The interior design of a townhouse in Las Vegas is an exercise in traditional style updated for today. The client, a single businesswoman, requested a gracious, sophisticated space that would function for entertaining large and small groups. The comfort of traditional elements is combined with a fresh modern sensibility. Dramatic curtains and sculptural antiques are augmented by a soft palette, creating a space the reflects the personality of the client. Furnishings and upholstery were kept light and airy. An awkward double height space was utilized as a lounge, with a crystal chandelier added for drama. In the master suite, the walls and windows were swathed in silk curtains the color of silver, creating a cocoon of luxury.
